Alex Ferguson regrets not allowing player to block Messi

Sir Alex Ferguson has expressed his regret over not naming Lionel Messi as a major target during the 2011 Champions League final.

I should have made a change in the first half and put Ji-Sung Park off Messi. That was my fault.

I would not have done it before but I think if we could have drawn before the first half they would have seen The competition is different from before and we can go to the competition better.

If I played Ji-Sung Park against Messi I think we would have beaten them Ferguson added.

Messi scored the first goal in the final to help Barcelona beat Manchester United 3-1.
